Day 18/366

Another good news to share with my readers, we have got a car! It is not a brand new car as that is too expensive but this is a good car for us at the moment. The kids were excited too. We got it from one of Appu's friend who is upgrading to a bigger car. The day was relaxed but we had made plans to go view a few houses as the next step to settling into the new place is getting a house. At the moment we are living in a temporary accommodation provided by Appu's company but we will have to move out in a couple of months and we need to shortlist a house within that time. Though we had shortlisted a few houses through online sites, by the time we could go view them (as we needed a car to be able to reach each locations at a given time), we have missed out on a few good houses unfortunately. So this morning, after an early lunch, we took our car for the first drive and the girls were so excited to be sitting in their new car. Car seats are compulsory here and unfortunately we haven't gotten the girls their car seats yet so we borrowed it from the friend from whom we bought the car.

The drive to different locations to view the houses was very picturesque and each frame worth capturing. This country is very beautiful and has had a special place in my heart from the time I came here first in the year 2013. The picture above was captured from the car on our way to viewing a house and the girls and I bought thought it was a beautiful structure.

So coming back to viewing houses, boy oh boy, is this it a huge task!! not the viewing part, but finalising a house after you view it. We viewed 3 houses today. The first one seemed too old and would definitely need a lot of maintenance work after we bought it. The second house was perfect in terms of location but the front space of the house could hardly fit one car. The third one we viewed was inside a gated community (which is a great plus when it comes to safety and security) but there was just no lawn or backyard to the house and just enough space to park your car in the front of the house. The other thing we were not too keen about the third house was that the dining and living room was jus one space and it looked too cramped. Well I know it's too much to ask when you come to live in a place like UK to check all the boxes of your house specifications, but since we have just started viewing, we are still hoping to tick maximum number of boxes. So after we finished viewing the three houses, we decided to go do some grocery shopping and get the girls something to eat and drink. The viewing of houses takes roughly around 20 mins/ house so we were done by around 4pm. We still had to get some things from the list that the school had asked us to buy for the girls to start school on Monday so we did that too but couldn't find the things we were looking for. We hope to try different shops on Saturday.

We got home around 6.30pm and the girls quickly changed and I got dinner ready for the girls as they had already got bacon and garlic bread when we went shopping so I had to just cook them and serve. Appu decided to get Subway sandwiches for the both of us to take off the load of cooking after coming back. We were all very tired and hungry by the end of the day. After putting the girls to bed, Appu and I sat a bit longer to check a few more houses that we could ask to view on Saturday as Appu needs to go to office tomorrow.

Though our day has been exhausting, we have also been a little stressed about the house hunting as the clock is ticking and the number of houses that are available at the moment , especially in the area we are looking at seems not much. Pray we can find more on Saturday.
