The girls finally start school today! I cannot tell the excitement they had from the time they went to bed last night! My older one kept waking up at night asking if it was time to get ready for school. Appu worked from home today so he could come to drop and pick the girls as it was their first day at school. I excitement was a little different, after more than a month, I finally get to just relax and not worry too much about if the girls have eaten, are they fighting, are they making a mess in the house, so on and so forth. I guess its just the usuals most mothers go through. But having said that, I was very happy for my girls as they have been really very patient and kind through this past month since the time we relocated. I know how much they have been wanting to get back to school and enjoy playing and doing all the other fun stuff. So it was a day of mixed emotions. We left home around 8.40 am and just made it on time before they closed the main gate after which we would have to go via the office and get a special entry for late comers. The lady at the gate kindly took the girls to their respective classes as parents or carers are not allowed beyond the gate. We hugged and kissed the girls good bye but they were just beaming with joy waiting to see their new classroom and meet new friends. We had a few paper work to submit at the office after the girls went to their classes so Appu and I went to the school office. Appu got a chance to meet the headteacher too. It was in a way good that they are familiar with our faces else at pick up time, they wouldn't let you pick the child. They are very careful and attentive about who comes to pick and drop the child.
After everything was done, Appu and I walked back home. Lately I have been watching the Harry Potter series on Netflix. I have finishes the first 3 series and now on to the 4th. Finished watching that and then did some cleaning and sorting in the house. Appu and I had lunch at home and then my favourite thing to do, My afternoon NAP. How i used to enjoy my naps back in Brunei. It was a must back in the days. A kind of booster to get me going through the rest of the day's chores. And i was finally feeling like I could get my usual 30 mins naps in the day. Felt so nice to just relax and not worry if the kids are upto something in the house while i dose off. So after a quick 30 mins nap, I finished a few phone calls and then got ready to go pick up my girls with Appu. The excitement of seeing them after a long day was just unimaginable. We kept waiting along with the other parents and once we caught sight of our lovely girls, we had the biggest smile on our face! Like the ones you see on parents who come to pick their child who has been away fro a very long time. LOL! Funny enough on the otherhand, my girls were looking so tired and that they could hardly hold a proper smile on their face. Poor girls! For a minute I was worried they did not enjoy school and would say they didn't want to go again. We met both the class teachers and they both mentioned that the girls had a great time at school today. We were very happy to hear that. The girls had so much to say about their first day at school on our way back home. I was very thankful that they did like the new school.

The girls needed P.E (Physical Education) kits for tomorrow so after we got home, I went to get the necessary items for the Kit (joggers, shoes, shirts. etc) while Appu stayed with the girls at home and fed them. I was just so tired from all the walking as everything wasn't available at one shop and so had to go into a couple of shops to get it all. After getting home, I made dinner (Rice and Salmon curry). I was very hungry by the time I had finished cooking so decided to eat first before i sit to get the girls finish their meals. I feel when you are hungry, its always best to attend to yourself before anything as that will help you relax and be calm. The body needs fuel and if you push it too much, it's going to worn n torn.
Take care of yourself. Always!
Love
Ammu
