Day 24/366

Walked the girls to school in the morning and they just keep talking until they reached school. They have endless things to say. Sometimes they even talk about how it was when we were in Brunei. They still miss the place and their friends. I do too. It's not easy to let go but we have been managing ok so far. They now know the way and are very confident to walk alone to their school even if I'm not close to them. They seem to be adapting quickly and I'm so thankful that they have each other to talk, to play, to cry, to fight and what not.

After dropping the girls to school, I went for a quick walk before going back home. The morning rush to work or to drop off your kids is real. There is a sense of worry if they are going to catch the train on time or reach the office on time or also get the child to school on time. It is a busy city life after all I guess. So walking down the streets watching people, watching the shops or cafes open was different. Taking in a breath of fresh air before going back home to do my daily chores was a good idea. It definitely was a mood changer. Once back home, I did some reading, writing , cleaning, washing and the other endless house chores. It made me feel very productive. Had a quick lunch and watched some video (still watching the Harry Potter series on Netflix). After folding a few clothes that were washed earlier, I took a quick nap before heading to pick the girls from school. The weather was nice outside and I was a bit early for pick up so decided to walk around the place a bit. There is just so much to see around in England. Everywhere is very scenic and serene though a busy country, the place as such gives you a sense of peace and calm.

After returning home with the girls, we decided to go for a quick walk. They were missing their walks in the mall and nearby places. We walked a bit, got some strawberries from the farmer's market. The lady recognised the girls and asked them if they were enjoying school. She also very kindly offered the girls some chocolates while we were leaving. We then walked into the mall and the girls wanted to go into a book store. They walked around a bit and since it was getting late and I still had to cook dinner, we decided to walk back home. Appu came in 10 mins after we reached home and so he showered the girls while I quickly made dinner. After the girls went to bed, Appu and I watched a movie together on Netflix. Back in the time when we were in Brunei, we used to watch something together after the girls went to bed but since we have come here, all that we can think of is about how to get the girls started at school, or about getting a car, or about the house. It is always taking up so much of our time and I think it is just normal when you relocate to a new place to worry about the endless things you need to do before you can really feel settled. So tonight was a good change to actually sit back and watch a movie together.

How has your week been so far? Would love to hear from you too.

Love

Ammu
