Day 36/366

A new week and the girls are back at school and I'm back to my morning walks and grocery shopping followed by getting back home and doing the house chores. Today's grocery shopping bag was a bit too heavy for me to carry. The walk from the grocery store to where we stay takes about 10-15 mins. The load on my hand was taking my walk back home longer than usual. The cold breeze falling on your face is not helping either. Nevertheless, I made it home! and guess what, I had bought a treat for myself, Tiramisu!! LoL! Though it wasn't my time for my eating window ( as I still try and stick to my intermittent fasting), I wanted to give myself some credit for all the hard work so I decided to eat an hour before my actual eating window. Oh boy! It felt absolutely amazing and every time I eat tiramisu, I remember a very dear friend of mine in Brunei. She used to make the best tiramisu and she very kindly shared her recipe with me too but I haven't got a chance to make it here. So after the well deserved treat, I got back to sorting the groceries and tidying the place. Had some laundry to be done and some cooking.

When I went to pick the girls from school, my older one was very upset and as she saw me, she came running to me and started crying. Her class teacher mentioned that after their worship assembly (which happens right before pick up), she was feeling a little sad but the rest of the day, she was fine. So after I spoke to her teacher, I sat my daughter down and asked her what had happened. My poor girl couldn't control her tears yet she mumbled that the song they sang during worship, reminded her of Brunei and she misses Brunei very much! My heart sank! I was myself struggling with loneliness and here is my poor little girl crying. I really did not know how to console her. I held her tight and told her it was ok to feel the way she did and reassured her that it will get better with time. She really enjoys school and ha made a couple of friends too so it is got nothing to do with her present school. My younger one also consoled her sister and they both hugged each other and we walked back home together.

Tonight's dinner was a bit different from what we usually have and I sometimes like changing things around once in a while. My girls have been asking for chips for dinner so tonight we had mini sausage rolls, chips and carrot sticks. I made some lemonade too. The girls were thrilled to have chips for dinner. We try and avoid making too many fried foods in our house and so this was very special. Girls enjoyed their lemonade too. After dinner, my younger one and I sat for a while to do the puzzle before they went off to sleep. My older one was feeling completely fine after we got home and she happily went to bed.

How has your day been?
Love
Ammu
