Day 38/366

Guess what! It rained so much last night and the temperature dropped this morning. We are back to 4 degrees and the cold wind blowing against your face was making it even worse felt like 1 degree or even worse. Probably because we are not used to this weather, a little wind and we feel like its very cold. Don't know how the locals take it. So today for a change and also because it was very cold to just walk around in the open, though I did a bit, I decided to walk inside the shopping mall nearby and did some window shopping. I was looking to buy some clothes for my girls but did not get what I was looking for so I finished my walk and went back home. Got some milk and bread on my way home.

Though I did not do much after getting home apart from making a few bookings for our upcoming summer break, the best part of my day was I caught up with my girl friends in Brunei. Some are still there and some are in other parts of the world. We had pre-decided on a time and organised a zoom call. I had the best time catching up with all of them. Though we are in touch through whatsapp,it was just nice to have a video chat and just talk about life and how things are different for all of us now that most of us are in different parts of the world. The time we spend talking was so much fun! I definitely miss being in Brunei and my friends I made there. They are very special and will always hold a special place in my heart!
After my call, I had a quick nap and then went to pick the girls. Usually the temperature picks up over the day but today it went up only by a degree and it still felt very cold. The girls said they did feel it too but we made it back home without too much of trouble. The snacks I usually carry with me help in getting them to walk back home even thought they may be tired from their day at school. On our way home, we had to stop at the store next to where we stay to get some garlic bread and salad leaves for tonight's dinner.

For tonight's dinner, I tried to make a no-fry version of the KFC chicken. I tried to bake them in the oven instead and both my girls said it tasted yummy! I wasn't too sure how they would like it but I was happy they relished every bite. After dinner the girls did some math work and then went to bed. Appu bought me some turkish sweets (picture below) which we had after the girls went to bed. The girls did try some but wasn't a big fan! Tomorrow is their last day at school before the holidays for the mid term starts. I don't know if I should be excited or sad about it as I'm now wondering how I will entertain them during these 10 days of holidays. Appu said he will take a few days off next week so hopefully we can do something together as a family.

What are your plans for the weekend?
Love
Ammu
