Day 40/366

Day 1 of the girls holidays and Appu was working from home so I could sleep in a bit as I knew Appu would give them their morning milk. The girls were happily playing with each other and I got their breakfast ready in the mean time. Though I made the nutella yesterday, the girls never got to try it. I had some puff pastry in the fridge so I decided to make some nutella rolls with it to eat after breakfast.

The girls were very happy with the nutella rolls and said the nutella I made tasted better than the store bought ones. A huge compliment! Made my day! The girls went back to playing while I got back to cooking for lunch. They spoke to our folks back home for a while and then had lunch. After lunch, the girls and I decided to go for a walk and I had some grocery shopping to do too. I showed them a few places I walk in the mornings after I drop them at school. The weather was nice this afternoon and so they had no complaints walking around. We did grocery shopping together. They liked to look for the things that were written on my list. Actually my older daughter wrote the list for me today. Once shopping was done, we walked home.

There is an Italian pastry shop near where we stay and I have seen they have some really nice ice cream flavours. I have always wanted to go try it but felt I should take the girls with me too. So today on our way home, we got in for an ice cream treat. The girls were thrilled. I could only imagine their excitement. They both wanted their ice cream on cone. Older one chose Madagascar vanilla ice cream and the younger one chose mint chocolate chip ice cream (picture above) . I got to taste some of both and the ice cream was very creamy and delicious. Though a bit expensive, it was a good treat for the girls. The cone was crunchy too. Happy girls, Happy Ammu.

After getting home, the girls got back to playing while I started prepping for dinner. On today's menu I had planned to make homemade hummus, store bought bread, some bacon bits , salad for Appu and me and some carrot and cucumber sticks for the girls. I have made hummus at home before but the girls didn't want to taste it then. But today I put a bit in both their plates, though a little hesitant in the beginning, they finished most of it. I am really trying to make some healthy meals at home, not only for the girls, but also for Appu and me. I feel the food choices we make helps a lot in our over all health and well being. Setting examples for my girls to follow in future when they are on their own too.

So day 1 of their holidays has been good but I have no clue how long its going to be all peaceful and exciting for them. Fingers crossed they will have a good time.

How has your day been?

Love

Ammu
