Day 8/366

What a great start to our day! The girls experienced their first ever snow showers! It has started getting chilly and December was much better in comparison to January in terms of weather. Some one here even mentioned it was one of the warmest Christmas they have ever had. But come January, the temperatures have been dropping and this morning it was 2 degree celsius. These snow showers are characterised by light snow flurries or a brief period of snowfall, often melting quickly upon contact with the ground. The girls enjoyed the beautiful and magical atmosphere, covering the landscape in a white blanket and creating a sense of wonder and joy. Though it did not last long, it was definitely a moment my girls will remember forever.

So since it was too cold outside today, we decided to not venture out too much and stay at home instead. Have you thought of the things you could do with kids during winters and especially when it starts snowing outside and you are stuck at home? Let me help you with a few ideas;

1. Indoor treasure hunt: Create clues and hide small objects around the house for kids to find. This can be a fun and engaging activity that keeps them entertained and active.

2. Art and crafts: Set up a craft corner with various materials like paper, glue, crayons, and markers. Encourage kids to create their own artwork or engage in simple crafts like paper snowflakes or handprint artwork.

3. Baking or cooking: Involve kids in the kitchen by baking cookies, making a fun pizza, or even preparing a simple lunch together. This not only keeps them engaged but also helps them develop important life skills.

4. Movie or game day: Have a cozy movie day with popcorn and blankets, or play board games or video games as a family. This can be a great way to spend quality time together and have some fun.

5. Reading or storytelling: Encourage kids to read books or tell stories. You can either read aloud to them or let them explore their favorite books independently.

6. Indoor obstacle course: Set up an obstacle course using furniture, pillows, and other household items. Kids can crawl under tables, climb over couches, and jump on cushions. This activity not only keeps them active but also promotes their motor skills and creativity.

7. Indoor picnic or tea party: Set up a picnic or tea party in the living room. Lay out a blanket, prepare some snacks or sandwiches, and enjoy a pretend picnic with your kids.

8. Science experiments: Engage kids in simple science experiments using household items. You can make a volcano erupt with baking soda and vinegar or create a homemade lava lamp using oil and water.

9. Puzzles and building blocks: Set up puzzles or building blocks for kids to engage their minds and promote problem-solving skills. This can keep them entertained for hours.

10. Dance party: Clear some space and have a dance party with upbeat music. Encourage kids to move and groove, allowing them to burn off energy while having fun.

Remember, spending quality time with kids and engaging in activities that stimulate their minds and bodies is key. It's an opportunity to create lasting memories and enjoy each other's company, even when the weather keeps you indoors.

Today's flower from my lego set was the Rose, which is one of the most famous of flowers. This one was a little tricky but nevertheless, the end result was just beautiful. I'm excited to do the next flower today. Have any of you'll tried this lego set? Is lego building as interesting for you as it is for me? Do you have any suggestions for me on how to store them?

Do write to me. Would love to hear from you .

Love

Ammu.
